Honey Garlic Chicken
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 - 2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breast cut into 1-2" pieces
- oil of your choice for deep frying
Batter
- 4 tbsp cornstarch
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 egg whites
Sauce
- 1 1/2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tsp minced ginger
- 2 1/2 tbsp minced garlic
- 1 tsp salt
- 3 1/2 tbsp honey
- 1 tsp vinegar rice wine or apple are best
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp water
Optional
- sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions
- Add chicken to small container (or plastic zip top bag). Top with cornstarch, flour, baking powder and salt. Seal container (or close bag) and shake to coat chicken.
- Add egg whites to chicken mixture. Seal container (or close bag) and shake to coat chicken.
- Add oil to skillet and heat oil to at least 375 degrees F. Add the chicken and allow to fry until the breading is a crisp, dark golden brown.
Sauce
- In a separate pan, heat oil. Add ginger and garlic. Stir until garlic turns a bright golden brown.
- Add salt, honey, vinegar, and water to the pan, stirring occasionally for 2-3 minutes. Add water and bring it to a slow boil.
- In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water together until smooth. Add mixture to the sauce, and stir frequently until the sauce thickens.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
- Add chicken to the sauce, and stir to coat.
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds, serve over a bed of steamed white rice and enjoy!
