In 2000, Tobe and Dylan Sheldon set out on a journey together. It all started over a glass of wine at the Cepage Wine Bar in Carmel, California. Tobe, who had been studying geology for almost a decade in Boise, Idaho, was looking for a new adventure and found it in Dylan. In only a few weeks, the couple were engaged.
After selling some of their belongings and taking up residency on the floor of an old abandoned winery, the couple created the first vintage of Sheldon Wines in 2003. This was done using four different varietals and made 420 cases of wine. Since then, Sheldon Wines has continued to produce a limited assortment of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Viognier, Petite Sirah, Graciano, Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon.
After studying geology for nearly a decade in Boise, Idaho, Tobe returned to California where she met her future husband, Dylan. After telling him her plan to travel the world while making wines, the two set off on the journey of a lifetime. We sat down with Tobe and asked her to tell her story. She also shared her continuing passion for wine, wine making and the elaborate process they go about to create their signature wines.
